I’ve spent a lot of my life looking inward — sometimes gently, sometimes relentlessly — trying to understand who I am beneath the roles, expectations, and stories we all carry. It can feel a little like walking an inner labyrinth. Just when I think I’ve reached the center, I discover another layer waiting.

When I created this piece, I was thinking about how we are both the one living our life and the one quietly observing it at the same time. The eyes, for me, are about awareness… memory… intuition… and that deeper part of us that always knows more than we let ourselves see.

I’ve always been drawn to surrealism because it lets me show emotional truth instead of literal reality. Sometimes the most honest things can only be expressed symbolically.
