I'm Garrett. I create art as a way of making fragments whole. Each collage is a living, breathing piece that shifts with time, reminding me — and maybe you — that nothing is ever finished, only becoming.

My art began in an unexpected way. At the start of the pandemic, after thyroid cancer surgery, I felt fragile and uncertain. I began coloring postcards — one a day — and mailing them out. It was a small ritual of connection, a way of telling people, “I’m still here. We are still here.”

Then came a year of devastating loss: my mother, my father, and one of my sisters all passed within months of each other. In the midst of that grief — and while watching the world itself unravel in ways I had always feared — I felt called to create something larger, something that could hold what words could not.

PowerPoint, of all things, became my canvas. With fragments of images — some my own, some borrowed, some reimagined — I began layering, cutting, reshaping. What started as survival quickly became revelation. Each collage was a way to process sorrow, to let go, and to find beauty again.

My work doesn’t shy away from the hard truths — separation, death, lies — but it also insists on love, light, and wonder. That balance is the only way I know to live with authenticity.

Spiritually, I have always been drawn to the mystics, to myth and archetype, to the spaces in between. My collages are portals into those liminal worlds — places where shadow and radiance walk side by side. They are not fixed or final. Like life itself, they keep shifting.

Sometimes I return to a piece and alter it. I don’t see this as deception, but as honesty: we are never the same person twice.

This is why I call my work "art that tells a story." It is my story, but also yours. In every fragment, there is a mirror. In every portal, there is a doorway into something larger than ourselves.

My art is my wing print. I share these creations as a lasting gift, hoping they inspire beauty, authenticity, and creativity in whoever finds them.
