When I Am Alone.png

When I  Am Alone

First Created: June 2026

Medium: Digital collage (PowerPoint)

Artist Note

This piece arrived on a flight home to France.

I've always thought of solitude differently than loneliness. For me, being alone is often when the noise quiets down and I remember who I am beneath the roles, expectations, fears, and stories.

The snake became a symbol of that process. A snake sheds its skin but not its shape. Similarly, we move through different identities and seasons of life, yet something essential remains.

The older face, the central face, the moons, and the snake all seem to inhabit the same inner landscape—a place where memory, mystery, and identity meet.

Question

What helps you remember who you are when no one else is around? What freedom is your heart quietly asking for right now?

This piece is a living work. What you see here is one version in time.
