Please, Let Me Stay

First Created: June 2026

Medium: Digital collage (PowerPoint)

Artist Note

This collage came to me in a dream-like state just before waking.

In the dream, I remembered what it felt like before birth—not as a place, but as a state of being. Weightless. Silent. Held.

I knew that outside the womb waited noise, heat, fear, and uncertainty. I didn't want to leave.

My mother was there, but she couldn't save me. She didn't know how to save herself.

Whether this memory is literal or symbolic isn't important to me. What matters is the feeling it revealed: our lifelong search for the safety we once knew, or imagine we once knew.

Perhaps every sanctuary we seek—a loving embrace, a quiet forest, prayer, art, home—is an attempt to remember that original peace.

I entered the world screaming. Maybe we all did.

Question

What place, person, or experience has made you feel most completely safe?
