Artist Note

Religion has inspired breathtaking beauty, profound compassion, and extraordinary acts of love. It has also divided families, neighbors, and nations.

​

This collage was born from my concern over how easily our deepest beliefs can become walls instead of bridges. The symbols are all here—the angel with her wings, the holy book and rosary, the watchful raven, the Madonna and Child. Around them, people cling to one another while pulling apart, convinced they are defending what matters most.

​

We often say we are fighting for truth, for God, or for our children. But sometimes we may be protecting something even more fragile: our own certainty, our need to be right, our longing to feel safe.

​

The angel and Madonna do not choose sides. They simply bear witness with compassion. So does the raven.

​

There are no winners in a religious war—only relationships left to heal.
