I never had a brother, yet I’ve always felt the presence of one — as if someone was with me before I was born, and I’ve been searching for him ever since. This piece carries that longing, but also a grief for the compassion we’ve lost in one another, especially among those who lead by division.
For me, My Brother, My Friend is both personal and collective — a reminder of the sacred kinship we crave and the tenderness we owe one another.
